GOLF IN INDIA

Golf in India dates back to the year 1829, when the British developed the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest in the world outside of the British Isles. The game of golf in India was already several decades old, when the first golf course was developed in the USA in the year 1888!

Golf in India came of age in 1996, when she was invited to play in the Alfred Dunhill Cup at St. Andrews, Scotland. The Indian team defeated the home side which were considered hot favourites to win the cup.
